A little more about me!

Hi, I’m Rebecca – a British expat, wife, mum to two awesome kids, and a passionate traveller who’s explored over 30 countries (and counting!).

My journey has always been driven by a love for discovery – whether it’s in the world or in myself. I caught the travel bug at 19 when I first strapped on a backpack, and it hasn’t let go since. Living in Sydney was a chapter full of life-changing experiences, and now, after three years in Singapore, I’m grateful for the chance to create new memories here with my family.

But my biggest adventure? Starting my own business. After the birth of my first child, I wanted to build something that allowed me to be there for them. I wanted to be the mum who’s home when they arrive, and the one waving them off in the morning. But I also wanted something for me – something creative that reflects who I am and allows me to make a meaningful difference. So, Rebecca Downie Photography was born, and it’s been a thrilling journey ever since.

I’ve always been driven by a desire to make the world a better place – it’s what led me to consider a career in politics at one point. These days, instead of going down the political path, I’m more focused on supporting women in business and empowering them to take ownership of their brands. This passion for uplifting others led me to launch The Athena Network here in Singapore, which has become a true highlight of both my work and life.

I’ve learned that, for me, people fuel my energy – but more importantly, it’s the right people. Finding my tribe, those who inspire and support each other, is everything. I’m still embracing the balance between my energetic side and my need for moments of quiet – something I’ve learned to honour more through my Human Design.

When I’m not working, you’ll find me with my close-knit group of friends, usually enjoying good food and one too many drinks! I’m also loving the slower pace of life here – walking in the MacRitchie Reservoir or the Botanical Gardens, soaking in nature, and recharging my batteries.
