Last year a fabulous women called Deana contacted me to arrange a discovery call. She had been following me for a while on Insta and wanted a portfolio of images to better represent who she is, what she can offer and to attract the right clients to her business.
Deana is a yoga teacher and hypnotherapist working with women in their second spring, so they can embrace all that life still has to offer.
Over our 1hr brand consultation, using Deana’s answers from my brand workbook, we devised a shoot that would capture the following…

Our Shoot
I headed to Eastbourne, Deana's home town. She teaches yoga at the beautiful Yoga Life studio in Eastbourne. This was the perfect location to start as it had soft light, the yoga vibe and is where Deana hosts classes. We captured lots of different poses, but also images that reflect the values that surround yoga such as journaling, meditation and crystals.
After a quick outfit change, and a quick shift around of furniture we also captured Deana in her hypotherapy mode. These were a little more formal, but still showcasing her beautiful soul but balancing that as her as a trained professional who can help you.
Being by the coast no shoot was going to be complete without a trip to the beach. Deana is an early riser and loves the walks along the beach. We captured some lifestyle coffee shots in a beach side cafe and then the real fun began! Deana offers her clients a sense of freedom from the menopause and we wanted to in capture what that LOOKS and FEELS like so as Deana frolicked in the sun and waves I captured her young at heart spirit shine through.
To finish our shoot we headed to a favourite healthy cafe where she often catches up with friends. There are lovely photos of her working away and enjoying a green juice.
Tools and techniques
I believe my super power is making you feel quickly at ease. Deana says "Rebecca gave me back my confidence and I learned to see the photos as part of the job, that's all. And I like them because they conveyed how I am beyond a flat image".
We spend most of the shoot chatting, and from time to time I will give you gentle direction to get you the best shot. I never force you to do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable, but we all need to push ourselves out of our comfort zones a little.
I am a Canon shooter, and bring a selection of lenses. My fave is my 85mm and I shoot mostly with that. Occasionally I will need to pop on a flash but I am a seeker of beautiful natural light and will look for that wherever we shoot.
